Fall/Winter 2008 Events

Fall is a busy time around the winery. Harvest started on Monday, September 8th, when we brought our first load of sauvignon blanc to the crush pad. Fall is also a time for lots of wine pourings and wine dinners. Here's what is scheduled so far:



September 18th Zeph's - Chardonnay Salinas 5:30-close
This is one of Zeph's most popular pourings; mostly local (and some not) wineries sample their new chardonnays; our winery representatives will be on hand to answer questions



September 23rd Frank-Lin Portfolio Show- San Jose

September 25th CPTV's Farm-to-Table Dinner 6 to 10pm- Haddam, Connecticut
Join Connecticut Public Broadcasting and San Saba Vineyards as we promote local, sustainable growers and chefs at The River House at Goodspeed Station restaurant, perched over the Connecticut River. September 26th Jazz on the Plaza- Carmel 6 to 8pm
In the center of the picturesque Carmel Plaza (Mission @ Ocean), enjoy great jazz while sampling wines from San Saba Vineyards.. all in a beautiful outdoor setting; the jazz is free; tickets for wine and cheese are $10

September 26th Winemaker Dinner, Salinas Country Club
Winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, will tear herself away from Harvest to entertain and educate club members during a 5 course dinner paired with San Saba wines.

September 27th KGO-Monterey County Wine Experience San Jose 12-4pm
KGO partners with the Monterey County Vintner's Association and talented local chefs to highlight the best of wine and food. San Saba's winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, will be there along with Brian Overhauser, San Saba's corporate chef. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door; a portion of the proceeds benefits Habitat for Humanity. October 2 Taste of Carmel,Carmel Mission 6 to 9pm
No setting is as special as the courtyard of the historic Carmel Mission and Basilica where the Taste of Carmel has been held for years. October 21st Tuesday Night Tasting "Expensive Wine Tour Around the World"
Another in our on-going series of wine enducation groups; held at the San Saba tasting room on River Road outside Soledad; tastings begin with an array of Davis aroma standards, lead into the tasting lead by San Saba winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, and end with a sampling of dishes by San Saba Chef, Brian Overhauser, prepared to match the wines beautifully. October 25th Sardine Factor Wine Dinner in the Cellar Monterey
Sardine Factory owner, Burt Cutino, has paired with San Saba Vineyards to create a memorable evening in the Sardine Factory Wine Cellar. The Sardine Factory is world famous for their wine program and is recognized as one of the first restaurants in the US to promote California wines. The wine cellar was created to house one of the most extensive wine collections in the county and is our intimate setting for this special dinner. Seating is very limited. $130 per person

TASTING DETAILS

Hours are 5:30-8:30pm. Tastings start with a tour through Davis Aroma Standards to get our brains and noses working together. A formal, winemaker-led tasting is followed by a light buffet of food prepared to match the wines served.

Tuesday Tastings are limited to only 20 guests for personal and comfortable environment where ideas and questions can be feely shared.
Because of the limited seating, space fills up quickly. We strongly urge advance reservations.

Tuesday Tastings are $20pp, and $10pp to San Saba Wine Club members and Wine/Hospitality professionals.

April starts to slow down for Food and Wine events ... we're all thinking about swimsuit season that's just around the corner!

April 15 Tuesday Night Tasting 5:30pm to 8:30pm Winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, will lead a
tasting of 8 wines from her personal cellar. Many of these have been given to her by
other winemakers and are unusual varietals. Chef Brian Overhauser will offer tastes
to compliment the wines served. $10 per person, San SabaWine Club members and

Spring is in full gear...

Pinot Noir Summit, Sunday, March 2, at Ft. Mason in San Francisco features a selection of 40 pinots chosen by a panel of judges from a huge pool of submissions. Our San Saba Pinot 2006 is one of the selections and we're thrilled. Winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, and consulting winemaker, Jeff Ritchey, will be present to pour samples to 250 lucky pinot lovers who will democratically vote for their favorites of the night. Shootout winners will be announced at the end of the evening. If you love pinot noir, you can't miss this event... now in its 6th year. Google "Affairs of the Vine" for more details.

Savor Dallas - Grand Tasting is Saturday, March 8, at the Plaza of the Americas in downtown Dallas. Eat your way through offerings from the best restaurants in North Texas and then find the San Saba table to enhance the evening. We will have all our newest vintages, including the just arrived San Saba Pinot Noir 2006.

March's Tuesday Tasting is March 25 from 5:30 to 8:30pm at the San Saba Tasting Room and will take an in-depth look at Pinot Noirs of all price ranges. Winemaker, Sabrine Rodems, will explore the range of flavors that come from different growing areas and winemaking techniques. The group is limited to 20 for a more personal experience. $10 per person includes 6-8 wines and heavy hors d'ouveres. No charge for San Saba Wine Club members or wine/hospitality professionals.

Wine Enthusiast's Toast of the Town is a wine and spirits extravaganza that will stop in four cities this year. The tour will be in San Francisco on Thursday, March 27 at the War Memorial Opera House. The VIP tasting is 5 to 7pm continuing on into the Grand Tasting from 7 to 10pm. Taste over 400 wines and spirits partnered with some of the finest area restaurants. Look for San Saba at the Monterey Vintner's table. You will be one of the first to taste the new release of San Saba Sauvignon Blanc 2007.

Seven Gables Inn on Oceanview Drive in Pacific Grove Every Thursday, we pour samples of our wines at this historic, beautiful inn as part of their on-going effort to bring Monterey's small family-owned wineries to their guests during the reception hour from 4 to 6pm. Consider induging yourself in a stay here. Pacific Grove is known as America's last great hometown and is wedged conveniently between Monterey and Pebble Beach.
